von follies by dita von teese

I have a confession to make.  Please, don’t judge me.  I wish I didn’t feel this way, I really do, but…I’m not a huge burlesque fan.  THERE!  I’ve said it, it’s out in the open and now you know.  I just find pasties with fringe extremely  cheesy, and most of all un-classy.  This is a blog all about knickers yes, but that is an article of lingerie that this girl will never get into, understand, or review.

Now, having said as much, have you seen Dita Von Teese’s new lingerie line??  Von Follies by Dita Von Teese launched in the UK, exclusively at Debenham's, has also been available at Targets down under for a bit now.  So, it’s easy to understand why you may not have heard about the glorious collection, but it’s just that. Beautiful.  As you can tell by now, I am a huge fan of vintage lingerie, it’s so feminine and glamorous without being kitschy.  I’m in love with her line, and honestly, really quite enamored with her.  Besides the fact that Dita’s demeanor is extraordinarily composed and collected she balances her love of vintage fashion with modernism seamlessly.  That may sound impossible, but hear me out.  Her hair, so divinely vintage, her makeup, a definite throw back, and her fashion is definitely influenced by eras past, but is it all vintage?  Or is it more retro?  She never looks out of place even paired with a far more modern and trend-following personage, and I believe that’s due to her more retro-ness.  She’s got this unbelievable air that exudes confidence and comfort, and I say kudos for being amazing.

Enough of my gushing!  Check out some of the pieces that are on sale now:

Okay, so now that you're falling in love, you're crying wailing, pleading, "Please!  Oh please, oh please.  Tell me where I can get these gorgeous knickers in the states??"  Rest assured, you can shop online at; asoshsn, and stylebop (although I couldn't find anything at stylebop!).  Happy shopping!

And now to finish with a quote from the goddess herself:

"From age 16 I worked in a lingerie store, and I had a very strong interest in the history of underpinnings and how styles changed from decade to decade. Even at age sixteen, I wanted to be a lingerie expert, so I did everything I could to learn about it! I started collecting vintage lingerie at a young age, and my love for it is what lead me to imitate pinup art of the 1940s, and that is what sparked my career as it is now. Even back then, I equated beautiful lingerie with femininity and everyday luxury rather than seduction. Of course, the art of seducing with lingerie is a wonderful thing, and I am quite aware of the effect it has....but first and foremost, a woman should seduce herself by choosing lingerie that is both beautiful and functional that she can wear in her everyday life, and so bringing these things together, along with affordability, is what I aimed to achieve with my lingerie collection."
